Spiritual Maturity Development Network (SMDN) was founded by Riaan da Horta (CEO) on 08 December 2021. It was established to create a vehicle that aims to empower people to improve themselves in the interest of uplifting their own community. SMDN wants to collaborate with all people but especially with Christian ministries, pastors, teachers; small, medium and corporate business or with anyone who has a desire to make their community better a better place to live in. Anyone that has a desire to become part of the solutions to the injustices in our societies will find a home here with us at SMDN.
SMDN believes that all citizens of South Africa should be allowed to live in peace. This peace can and should come from the heart of a community. By working with communities SMDN wants to change the way people see their roles and responsibilities as residents. By empowering people with the knowledge that each person CAN make a positive contribution to a better community through dedication, training and a paradigm shift on how we see our place in society.

Our hearts are filled with a passion to uplift communities by equipping and encouraging them to be active and productive members of their local society. We strive to change the consumer-based mind-set into one of a servant’s heart. By taking ownership of our communities, we can think differently to live differently.
We constantly search for ways to invest and encourage personal and business investment in their own and surrounding communities to empower individuals to a place of personal dignity. SMDN is a vehicle that drives the goal to meet the needs of communities that are essential for community wellness and wholeness. With the challenges that especially at-risk communities face there is an untold amount of unnecessary, social injustice, hurt, injuries, and preventable loss of life that is becoming commonplace.
SMDN believes that this is not enough to wat change. To have better societies we must take ownership of them. To bring healing to our communities we must empower people with basic lifesaving and wellness tools that give them the capacity to stand up. We should not just set up, but also participate in our own community wellness and upliftment ideals.

The implementation of any ideal needs structure and a mechanism that produces quantifiable and repeatable outcomes. To achieve these goals, we have started working on four key activities. They are:
- BBW workshops and library
- The OLP (Outie Leg-up Program)
- First Responders and Others Trauma Support
- Community Safety, Wellness and Social Upliftment Initiatives
